Professional Experience in Taiwan

Six years living and working in Taiwan trained me to communicate across real language and cultural gaps, not just theoretical ones. Teaching professionally, navigating daily life, and studying Mandarin all demanded the same core skill: reading a room I didn't fully understand yet and adjusting with flexibility and respect rather than assumption. I learned that communication style itself varies as much as language does—what reads as direct in one setting can read as abrupt in another—so I got in the habit of listening for what wasn't being said, asking questions that actually clarify, and staying open to working styles and perspectives different from my own.

These skills are the muscles production runs on—staying flexible when priorities shift, catching miscommunication before it becomes a problem, and collaborating with people whose working styles and perspectives differ from my own.
